Manila: The local government unit (LGU) of Currimao has intensified the enforcement of its No-Burning Ordinance, reinforcing efforts to protect public health, reduce air pollution, and promote environmentally sustainable waste management practices.

According to Philippines News Agency, Engineer Erickson Biag, Currimao's municipal environment and natural resources office (MENRO) designate, stated that the ordinance bans the open burning of garbage, waste, leaves, plastics, and combustibles, which can release pollutants and pose health risks. "As part of the municipality's ongoing enforcement of local ordinances, a citation was recently issued to an individual found in violation of the ordinance," he explained, highlighting the Currimao LGU's commitment to the fair and consistent implementation of local laws.

Earlier this week, the municipal government ramped up monitoring and campaigns to ensure residents understand and adopt proper waste management practices, such as segregation, composting biodegradable materials, recycling, and using designated disposal facilities. Barangay officials have also been instructed to strengthen community education and encourage residents to report violations to the appropriate authorities.

The public is urged to support the ordinance by practicing responsible waste management and helping maintain a cleaner, healthier, and safer community for all.
