Manila: The prevailing easterlies will cause fair weather in most parts of the country, the weather bureau said Monday. In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) added that the easterlies would cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and Palawan. Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides. According to Philippines News Agency, PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the rest of the country could also experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. He added that the easterlies would likely continue to prevail over the next two to three days. No low pressure area is monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation. Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are forecast in extreme northern Luzon. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate coastal waters. PAGASA, meanwhile, f orecast the temperatures to peak at 37 °C in Tuguegarao, and 35 °C in Metro Manila. Aurelio said the heat index, or the temperature felt by the human body when relative humidity combines with actual air temperature, could peak at 44 °C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; and 43 °C in Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; and Bacnotan, La Union. The heat index in parts of Metro Manila could reach 38 °C to 49 °C, he said.
