Pangasinan: Former Philippine National Police Chief, now Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Nicolas Torre III, has warned individuals in Pangasinan peddling fake threats of punishment by the law. "Those threats, especially bomb threats, rumor mongering, there is a law for that; cases may be filed against you, especially online threats. You might be shocked if there would be a search warrant for your residence. This is the Warrant to Search and Seize Electronics and Computer Data (WSSECD)," he said in Filipino at the graduation rites of Pangasinan State University, where he was the guest of honor and speaker on Wednesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Torre emphasized the cooperation of social media platforms in handling terrorism-related concerns. "If you do that (online threats), social media platforms like Meta, Tiktok, are swift to cooperate with the authorities to give registration details when it comes to terrorism-related concerns," Torre said.

In Pangasinan, two minors have been placed under custodial procedure following a cyber investigation, intelligence monitoring, and follow-up operations on online threats in schools. Pangasinan Police Provincial Office officer-in-charge Col. Dennis De Leon, in a recent statement, said the materials used in the video threat in Rosales town were seized, including a pellet (toy) gun and a baseball bat. "The seized materials are under the custody of the Rosales Municipal Police Station as evidence. Based on the guidelines, the minor will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for intervention and other appropriate processes," he said.

A minor in Bayambang, Pangasinan is also under custodial procedure after police identified him as the instigator of an online security threat. Online threats of various forms have been circulating in various schools in the province, some leading to disrupted classes. Nonetheless, authorities assured the safety of students and have warned the perpetrators.
