Gamu: Local farmers were urged to file formal complaints, supported by evidence, against the alleged 'irregularity' at the National Food Authority (NFA) warehouse in Gamu, Isabela, NFA Administrator Larry Lacson said Wednesday. This came after some palay (unhusked rice) farmers in Barangay Mabini raised concerns against NFA employees in the warehouse, with allegations of palay procurement from as far as Tabuk City, Kalinga, rebagging, and bribery involving the warehouse supervisor and agents, among others.
According to Philippines News Agency, Lacson emphasized the importance of formal complaints backed by evidence to expedite the action process. He encouraged affected farmers to move beyond verbal claims and file notarized complaints with proper documentation.
Lacson explained the importance of following due process within the Philippine justice system and disciplinary measures. He assured that the NFA is actively addressing the situation and necessary actions would be undertaken once due process is observed.
The NFA chief highlighted that any substantiated allegations could lead to charges on grounds of 'serious dishonesty and grave misconduct.' Currently, the NFA central office is awaiting an official report from NFA-Cagayan Valley.
