Fil-Italian’s Team Reaches Indoor Hockey League Top Division A1

Turin: Filipino-Italian Agostino Teofilo Alfieri and his team, HCU Rassemblement Torino, made it again to the top division A1 of the Italian Indoor Hockey League after finishing first runner-up in Italian Hockey Men's Indoor 2025-2026 on Sunday in Turin, Italy.

According to Philippines News Agency, the long-sought promotion for Torino came after they unleashed a huge comeback from 0-3 to beat Genoa, 4-3, and to face Amsicora in the battle for first place. Alfieri's team absorbed a 1-3 defeat to Amsicora, but this did not stop them from getting the hard-earned promotion to the elite A1 category of the league.

'We've done it! We're moving onto the next level, A1, and now it's time to celebrate this incredible achievement,' the 28-year-old Alfieri said. Alfieri also played an important role for Torino's two important victories in the Campionato di Series A2 at Pallatorino in Rome, Italy on Jan. 25.

He acknowledged the challenging competition but underscored that his team's unwavering determination and team efforts have earned them a well-deserved promotion and to be with top contenders in the men's hockey league of Italy. Alfieri was born in Italy to a Sicilian father, Angelo Alfieri, and a Filipino mother from Pangasinan, Ofelia Andrada.

He played for the Philippine team, which won a bronze medal in the 2026 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand last December.
