Lambayong: Five low-lying villages in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, are underwater due to continuous rainfall caused by Tropical Storm Kiyapo and the southwest monsoon (Habagat) on Thursday afternoon. Lambayong Mayor Francis Eric Recinto identified the inundated villages as Pinguiaman, Tinumigues, Udtong, Caridad, and Zeneben. The floodwaters have submerged residential areas, roads, and agricultural lands.

According to Philippines News Agency, personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), along with partner response agencies such as the military, police, the Bureau of Fire, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, are on the ground attending to the needs of affected families. 'No casualty was reported,' the MDRRMO said in a report Friday.

Mayor Recinto stated that continued monitoring and coordination with agencies are being maintained to provide assistance and ensure public safety. The floods have affected about 500 families in the five villages, while the cost of agricultural damage is still being determined. Lambayong is located near the 220,000-hectare Liguasan Marsh, which borders Maguindanao del Sur and is frequently flooded during heavy downpours in Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato provinces. The marshland serves as a catch basin for the three provinces, particularly during the rainy season.
