The Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) of the Antique provincial government is reminding haulers of sand and gravel materials in the province to observe the “sunrise to sunset” transport allowable period.

The transport guideline was contained in Executive Order issued by Governor Rhodora Cadiao on Oct. 3, following the collapse of the Buhang- Egaña bridge connecting Sibalom and Hamtic towns due to an overloaded 12-wheeler dump truck that passed the structure on Sept. 26.

ENRO chief Vivian Marfil said in an interview on Wednesday that the sunrise to sunset window varies depending on the day so haulers are advised not to transport sand and gravel materials during the banned period, especially on long trips, such as those going outside of the province.

The ENRO is conducting 24-hour surveillance in the Municipality of Hamtic which led to the apprehension of four 10-wheeler and one 12-wheeler trucks for violating the order.

In separate interview, Antique provincial legal officer Junevee Jungco said the owner of the truck that caused the collapse of the Buhang- Egaña bridge has been slapped with administrative fines while their sand and gravel materials were also confiscated.

The same administrative fine and confiscation were also imposed on the other apprehended trucks.
