Manila: Malaca±ang on Tuesday said former Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco continues to enjoy President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s trust despite her transfer to a new role as Presidential Adviser for Sustainable and Resilient Communities. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that the President remains confident in Frasco's ability to carry out her new responsibilities.

According to Philippines News Agency, Frasco was recently appointed to a new post that focuses on strengthening coordination and implementation of programs related to disaster resilience and sustainable development at the community level. Castro highlighted that Frasco's tasks include facilitating the alignment of government initiatives and working closely with national agencies, local government units (LGUs), and stakeholders.

'Facilitate the integration and alignment of national government initiatives. aimed at promoting sustainable and resilient communities,' Castro said, quoting part of Frasco's mandate. She added that Frasco is also tasked to coordinate with government agencies and LGUs and monitor the implementation of key programs, including identifying gaps and bottlenecks.

Castro mentioned that the President believes Frasco is well-suited for the role, given her experience working with local governments. Meanwhile, she noted that Malaca±ang has yet to identify a replacement for Frasco at the Department of Tourism. 'As of now, we have not yet discussed about the replacement for the position. Let's just wait, maybe in the next few weeks,' she said.

Last week, Castro indicated that Undersecretary Verna Buensuceso will temporarily head the DOT as officer-in-charge.
