Manila: Freddie Mercury's 'secret daughter' has died at the age of 48.
According to Philippines News Agency, the woman, known simply as B, passed away after a prolonged struggle with cancer, as confirmed by her family.
The late Queen frontman's alleged secret love child was revealed to the public last year following the release of a biography titled "Love, Freddie." It is reported that Mercury affectionately referred to her as 'Bibi,' 'tr©sor,' and his 'little froggie,' according to the Daily Mail.
Her widower, who has two sons aged nine and seven, informed the Mail that his wife had been suffering from chordoma, a rare spinal cancer. The Telegraph reports that she endured this childhood cancerous condition, which resurfaced later in her life.
Lesley-Ann Jones, author of "Love, Freddie: Freddie Mercury's Secret Life and Love," which disclosed the existence of Mercury's child, expressed to The Telegraph: 'I can say now that I knew all along, while we were writing the book, that she may not live to see it published. The fact that she did was a miracle.'
She further explained that B's childhood chordoma was in remission for many years before reemerging. B approached Jones to share Freddie's story, a decision influenced by her illness. Jones emphasized that B's motivation was not financial, nor did she accept any payment, but to restore her father's truth.
In August, B revealed her reluctance to share her father 'with the world,' as it was believed he had no children. She recounted her experience of mourning her father while the world mourned Freddie Mercury, describing the challenge of growing up without him during significant life moments.
The biography is based on 17 handwritten diaries that Mercury entrusted to B three weeks before his death on November 24, 1991, due to AIDS-related complications. Queen fans were astonished to learn of Mercury's daughter, conceived accidentally during a fling in 1976, a year after the success of "Bohemian Rhapsody."
Mary Austin, Mercury's former lover and inheritor of a significant portion of his estate, reportedly was unaware of B's existence. B expressed feeling 'devastated' by Austin's alleged response.
