Globe’s 235 New 5G Sites Boost Coverage in Key Cities to 98%

Manila: Globe Telecom, Inc. has rolled out an additional 235 new 5G sites in key cities nationwide, boosting 5G coverage in these areas to about 98 percent. In a statement, Globe announced that 5G coverage has expanded to 98.71 percent of Metro Manila and 97.97 percent in key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao in the first quarter of 2025.

According to Philippines News Agency, the expansion signifies improved connectivity for millions of Filipinos using mobile phones for work and entertainment. These new sites support over 9.5 million 5G devices, expanding the availability of high-speed Internet across the country. Beyond 5G sites, Globe has constructed 487 new cell towers and upgraded 3,940 existing ones with LTE technology.

With the integration of new technology like 32T32R Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO), the network aims to offer faster and more stable services in crowded areas. Globe's efforts are part of the Connectivity Plan Task Force led by the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), which has activated 600 new cell sites in geographically disadvantaged and isolated areas (GIDAs).

By the end of 2025, Globe plans to expand this initiative to 700 new sites, contributing to a wider industry movement to bridge the digital divide and ensure no Filipino is left offline. Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz emphasized the company's focus on providing the best mobile experience, stressing the importance of connectivity for supporting future technologies like artificial intelligence.

Cruz highlighted that connectivity in the modern world is a right, not a privilege, and Globe is committed to ensuring this right is accessible and felt across the nation.
