Malaca±ang: The government has expressed its willingness to engage in discussions with the transport group Manibela to address their grievances, which include alleged issues with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and delays in jeepney registration papers. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro communicated this openness to reporters, emphasizing the need for resolution.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has been instructed to thoroughly review the concerns raised by Manibela. Castro highlighted the importance of resolving these issues promptly if the complaints are found to be valid.
Castro urged the transport group to take the needs of the public into account, especially commuters, as they plan a three-day protest. She suggested that the grievances be discussed and resolved amicably to avoid inconveniencing the public during the Christmas season.
Manibela is organizing a nationwide strike from December 9 to 11 to protest what it describes as increasing penalties, extortion, and delays in government processes affecting public utility vehicle drivers and operators.
