Pasay City: The nationwide job fairs in 69 areas across the country will continue until May 2, coinciding with the Labor Day celebration, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced Thursday. These simultaneous events will be held in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and the Davao Region.
According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos emphasized that these job fairs are not only creating opportunities for more employment but are also bringing jobs closer to the citizens. During the 123rd Labor Day celebration at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, he highlighted that from July 2022 to February 2025, over 4,000 job fairs have been organized nationwide, involving one million Filipinos, with 170,000 hired on the spot.
Marcos noted that a one-stop shop is available at the job fairs to facilitate easier, faster, and more organized access to pre-employment requirements provided by participating government agencies. He also mentioned the government's efforts to strengthen the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood-Track in senior high schools to ensure that basic education graduates receive certification from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The President pointed out the introduction of a micro-credentialing system in technical-vocational education and training, launched in March this year, which allows workers to complete short modules and obtain modular certification even if they have not completed the entire course. This system enables individuals to compile certifications to enhance their skills, thereby improving their employment prospects.
Marcos assured that this latest training modality aligns with industry needs, ensuring immediate employment for trainees.
