Manila: The government earned PHP9.4 million with the sale of two more luxury cars seized from contractor couple Pacifico and Cezarah Discaya. During Friday's auction sale at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) main office in Port Area, Manila, two of the four luxury vehicles, Toyota Tundra (2022) and Toyota Sequoia (2023), were sold for PHP3,480,000 and PHP6 million, respectively.
According to Philippines News Agency, RMCE Metal Products Trading Corporation was the winning bidder for the red Tundra while the orange Sequoia was awarded to businessman Jose Maria Esteban III. There were no takers for the Rolls Royce Cullinan (2023) with an original floor price of PHP45,314,391.11 but was reduced to PHP36,281,415.72, and the Bentley Bentayga (2022) that was originally auctioned off for PHP17,311,121.93 but was lowered to PHP13,878,800.38.
During the first auction on Nov. 20, the BOC collected a total of PHP38,211,710 from the auction of Mercedes Benz G63 AMG (2022), Mercedes Benz G500 (2019) Brabus, and Lincoln Navigator (2021). Office of the Commissioner Deputy Chief of Staff Chris Noel Bendijo said they would wait for the recommendation of the auction committee regarding the unsold cars.
'The remedies available in the existing Customs Administrative Order is auction and if there would be two failed biddings, we would now accept direct offers under the negotiated sale option,' he said in an interview.
