Edmonton: Philippine Ambassador to Canada Jose Victor Chan-Gonzaga recently held a meeting with Alberta Minister of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration Joseph Schow to deliberate on strengthening trade, investment, and workforce collaboration between the Philippines and Alberta.

According to Philippines News Agency, the embassy released information stating that the meeting concentrated on exploring mutual export opportunities, collaboration in creative industries, and energy investments. The discussions also delved into partnerships aimed at addressing skilled labor shortages and promoting investments in vital sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and digital technologies.

Ambassador Chan-Gonzaga highlighted the complementary nature of the Philippine and Alberta economies, suggesting potential collaboration in emerging and advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, energy, and defense applications. He emphasized Alberta's position as home to the second largest Filipino community in Canada, which could act as a conduit for stronger economic cooperation.

Both Chan-Gonzaga and Schow committed to maintaining close communication and directed their respective teams to continue discussions aimed at advancing trade and economic relations between the Philippines and Alberta.
