GSIS Announces Double Win at 2025 GovMedia Awards in Singapore

Manila: The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) won two major awards at the 2025 GovMedia Conference and Awards held June 19 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, recognizing its efforts to empower women and expand access to affordable housing.

According to Philippines News Agency, the pension fund received the Social Equity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year-Pension for its short film "Hapag," and the Public Sector Initiative of the Year-Housing for its Lease with Option to Buy (LWOB) Program. GSIS President and General Manager Arnulfo Veloso stated that these awards highlight the importance of focusing on people in public service.

The short film "Hapag," produced by the GSIS Gender and Development Committee and Corporate Communications Office, was launched in 2024. It portrays the intergenerational stories of Filipino women, challenging cultural stereotypes and promoting empathy and inclusion across public institutions.

GSIS also gained recognition for its LWOB Program, which offers government workers the flexibility to lease homes with the option to purchase them later, helping to overcome barriers such as steep down payments and rigid financing. As of December 2024, the program has assisted over 3,360 households, generated PHP428 million in revenue, and placed more than PHP3 billion worth of properties under lease. The initiative supports the Marcos administration's flagship housing program, Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino.
