Manila: The southeast monsoon, locally known as "habagat," is set to bring rains to Luzon as the weather bureau keeps a close watch on two tropical systems located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported in its 4 a.m. bulletin that Batanes is expected to experience occasional rains. The regions of Metro Manila, Ilocos, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and the rest of Cagayan Valley are likely to see cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms. The rest of Luzon will witness partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the influence of the habagat. Meanwhile, the remainder of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms stemming from localized thunderstorms. PAGASA is also monitoring Ty phoon Saudel and Tropical Depression Gaenari, which are both positioned outside the PAR. As of 3 a.m., Typhoon Saudel was situated 2,245 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts up to 215 kph. The typhoon is moving in a west-northwestward direction at a speed of 25 kph. Tropical Depression Gaenari was located 565 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness reaching up to 70 kph, moving westward at 10 kph.
