Oas: A total of PHP3.4 million worth of shabu and a high-value individual were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted on Monday in Oas, Albay, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) reported on Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib stated that the suspect, identified as 'Brader', a native of Marawi City, had been under surveillance for alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade and was categorized as a high-value individual. During the operation, a police poseur-buyer successfully purchased 100 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP680,000 from the suspect.

The suspect was apprehended following the transaction. A body search conducted in the presence of mandatory witnesses led to the recovery of four large knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing an additional 400 grams of suspected shabu, valued at approximately PHP2.7 million.

In total, law enforcement authorities seized 500 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of PHP3.4 million, Calubaquib confirmed. The recovered evidence was immediately marked, inventoried, and photographed at the place of arrest in accordance with Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, ensuring the integrity of the seized evidence.

PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda praised the operating units for their professionalism, coordination, and dedication, highlighting the operation as a reflection of the growing effectiveness of intelligence-driven and inter-agency law enforcement efforts in Bicol. He emphasized that the fight against illegal drugs extends beyond arrests and seizures, advocating for a holistic approach that includes prevention, rehabilitation support, and community engagement. Miranda encouraged citizens to support law enforcement efforts by providing information to dismantle drug networks and ensure neighborhood safety.
