Manila: A Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight bound for Hong Kong experienced a delay of nearly six hours on Thursday due to a "security concern."
According to Philippines News Agency, Flight PR300 was scheduled to depart Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 7:45 a.m. However, it was temporarily held to allow for a thorough inspection of the aircraft and baggage in coordination with relevant authorities.
The specifics of the "security concern" were not disclosed, but PAL Vice President for Communications Anne Tiongco clarified that it was neither a bomb joke nor a bomb threat. The flight eventually took off at 1:51 p.m., Tiongco stated.
In a statement, PAL emphasized that the safety and security of passengers remain its top priority. The airline ensured that passengers were assisted and expressed appreciation for their cooperation during the security procedure.
