Manila: Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez announced the successful approval of 27 out of 28 measures under the Common Legislative Agenda (CLA) at the 8th meeting of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC), signaling significant legislative progress. These measures are targeted for passage before the conclusion of the 3rd Regular Session of the 19th Congress.
According to Philippines News Agency, Romualdez reported the near-completion of this legislative milestone to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., highlighting the House's commitment to delivering impactful legislative solutions. Out of the 27 approved measures, 12 have already been signed into law by President Marcos, including the New Government Procurement Reform Act, Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act, and Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act, among others.
Additionally, the bill proposing amendments to EPIRA became law on April 18, while the Capital Markets Promotion Act is currently awaiting action from the Office of the President since April 29. The bicameral conference committee is deliberating on several other key bills, such as the Blue Economy Act and amendments to the Universal Health Care Act.
The House has also transmitted several bills to the Senate after approval on the third and final reading. These include the National Water Resources Act, amendments to the Right-of-Way Act, and the Immigration Modernization Act. Notably, the proposed amendments to the Agrarian Reform Law remain pending in the lower chamber.
Romualdez emphasized that the House has approved 61 out of 64 LEDAC measures since the 19th Congress began. Apart from the Agrarian Reform Law amendments, pending measures include the National Defense Act and the Budget Modernization bill. He assured President Marcos of the House's commitment to continue passing legislation aimed at improving the lives of Filipinos, reaffirming their dedication as Congress resumes sessions.
