House Leaders Praise PNP’s Precision and Efficiency in Solving Crimes Under Marcos Administration

Manila: A House leader on Monday highlighted the increased precision and efficiency of law enforcement agencies in solving crimes under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s leadership, following the arrest of three suspects in the killing of Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Que.

According to Philippines News Agency, Surigao del Norte Representative Robert Ace Barbers, who chairs the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs, commended the Philippine National Police (PNP) for conducting a professional, evidence-based operation that avoided unnecessary violence. Barbers remarked, "This swift action by the PNP proves that under the leadership of President Marcos, our law enforcement agencies are working with greater precision and efficiency in solving crimes." He praised PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil and his team for their effective and non-violent approach.

The suspects, identified as Ricardo Austria David, Raymart Catequista, and Chinese national David Tan Liao, have been charged with two counts of kidnapping for ransom with homicide. While Liao surrendered to the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), David and Catequista were apprehended in Palawan province.

Barbers emphasized that the arrests send a strong message that justice can be achieved through proper legal procedures. "This development shows the growing capacity of our law enforcement agencies to resolve cases with professionalism and restraint. We should encourage this kind of performance from our police officers," he stated.

Laguna Representative Dan Fernandez, chair of the House Committee on Public Order and Safety, echoed these sentiments, noting the operation's success without bloodshed. "Ito ay patunay na seryoso ang pamahalaan sa paglaban sa krimen. At higit sa lahat, walang namatay sa operasyon. Maari aman palang magawa ito ng ating kapulisan (This proves the government is serious in fighting crime. And most importantly, no one was killed in the operation. It shows our police can do this the right way)," Fernandez said.

Fernandez also highlighted the effective coordination among security agencies under the Marcos administration, stating, "Makikita natin na may malinaw na direksyon ang ating pamahalaan pagdating sa seguridad. Nakikita natin ang bunga ng coordinated action ng mga ahensya (We can see that the government has a clear direction on security. This is the result of coordinated action among agencies)." He assured that Congress will continue to support law enforcement and institutional reforms to enhance public safety.
