Manila: Speaker Faustino 'Bojie' Dy III on Tuesday night announced the readiness of the House of Representatives to swiftly implement relief measures after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s declaration of a national energy emergency. Dy emphasized the urgency of the situation, highlighting the House's commitment to providing targeted interventions and real relief to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices and potential supply disruptions.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos declared the emergency through Executive Order No. 110, citing the imminent threat to the country's energy supply due to global disruptions and escalating oil prices. The order adopts the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) as a comprehensive government framework aimed at ensuring stable supply chains, maintaining essential services, and sustaining economic activity.

Dy remarked that this declaration enables the government to act swiftly in securing supply lines and maintaining the continuity of essential services. The House has already initiated measures to provide immediate relief, including the same-day signing and transmittal to the Senate of the proposed suspension of the excise tax on fuel.

Moreover, Speaker Dy expressed support for the UPLIFT framework, describing it as a vital mechanism for maintaining economic stability during the crisis. He stressed the importance of coordination within the government to ensure a steady supply of fuel, food, and other essentials, while emphasizing the need for unity to protect the population and keep the nation progressing.
