House Revokes Travel Clearance of Rep. Zaldy Co

Manila: House Speaker Faustino Dy III has formally revoked the travel clearance of Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co and ordered him to return to the Philippines within 10 days. In a letter dated Sept. 18, Dy informed Co that "your existing Travel Clearance for your personal trip is hereby revoked effective immediately."

According to Philippines News Agency, the revocation is issued in the paramount interest of the public and due to the existence of pressing national matters requiring Co's physical presence. House Speaker Dy emphasized that Co's immediate and strict compliance is expected, warning that failure to comply with the directive within the prescribed period shall be construed as a refusal to adhere to the lawful processes of the House of Representatives. This non-compliance could lead to the initiation of appropriate disciplinary and legal actions.

Co, the former chair of the House Appropriations Committee, is currently in the United States on a medical leave. He has been implicated in the flood control mess but has denied his involvement in the controversy.
