Huaning Slightly Intensifies But Remains No Threat to Philippines

Manila: Tropical Depression Huaning has slightly intensified, now carrying maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near its center, with gustiness reaching up to 70 kph, according to the latest bulletin from the weather bureau issued at 11 a.m. on Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the cyclone was positioned 535 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, as of 10 a.m. Despite its intensification, no tropical cyclone wind signal has been hoisted, and Huaning remains unlikely to directly impact the country, as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA also noted that Huaning is not expected to affect the sea conditions of the nation's coastal waters. Although the possibility of the depression intensifying into a tropical storm has not been ruled out, it is projected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by late Monday or early Tuesday.
