Iligan city: The local government of Iligan City has initiated the 'Project Safe' system as part of its ongoing campaign against Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC).

According to Philippines News Agency, Evelyn Madrio, head of the City Social Welfare and Development, revealed that Iligan City is one of the pilot local government units for the Project Safe initiative nationwide. She stressed the importance of addressing the issues faced by survivors and ensuring their complete healing before reintegration to prevent the risk of re-victimization.

Madrio highlighted that following necessary training for case handlers, officials, and staff, Project Safe will prioritize the healing and recovery of OSAEC survivors. Iligan City, previously identified as an OSAEC hotspot, has successfully reduced cases through strict law enforcement and aims to maintain low rates annually.

Project Safe is designed to enhance the protective system for the recovery and safe reintegration of OSAEC victim-survivors. The initiative is managed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in collaboration with Iligan City's Multidisciplinary Team.
