Manila: Over 2,000 youth leaders and volunteers from various towns and cities in Ilocos Norte participated in a civic parade to support the national government's anti-drug campaign. The event, held on Washington Street, was organized by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) in collaboration with the city government of Batac. It coincided with this year's International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DDB emphasized the pivotal role of young Filipinos in the nation's efforts to combat illegal drugs. The agency highlighted the importance of involving the youth in promoting a healthy lifestyle and building a society resilient to drug challenges. In their statement, the DDB affirmed their commitment to empowering young people as future leaders in the fight against drug abuse.
Supporting this initiative, the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office and the Provincial Education Office, represented by Willie Jake Sib-at, have put forward a comprehensive adolescent health program. The proposed program aims to address mental, reproductive, sexual, and physical health, with plans to integrate the anti-drug campaign into its framework.
The officers and members of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Ilocos Norte reiterated their commitment to engaging the youth, raising public health awareness, and driving change at the grassroots level to prevent drug abuse. Through ongoing collaboration with national and local partners, the province's young leaders pledged to continue their efforts in fostering safe and healthy communities.
