Ilocos Norte: The Ilocos Norte government continues its initiative to provide free land patents to eligible residents occupying alienable and disposable but untitled lands. This ongoing effort saw 447 individuals receive their patents at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena on Monday afternoon, according to Evalaudia Duyor, the acting provincial assessor of Ilocos Norte.

According to Philippines News Agency, the program, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, has been active since 2011. It aims to resolve land ownership issues within the province. Duyor mentioned that more patents could have been distributed, but some are still under processing.

The free land titling initiative, named "Titulo a Natalged: Sagut ni Ilokano," encourages applicants to visit their local government units or the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office for assistance. Alvin Agbayani, one of the program's beneficiaries, expressed his satisfaction with receiving the certificate of title for his 120-square-meter housing unit in Batac City, highlighting the security and ownership it provides.

Another recipient, Janin Faith Taclan, shared her appreciation for the program, noting its significant impact on securing properties without incurring high costs. The program targets natural-born Filipino citizens who have occupied and cultivated the land for at least 30 years and have fulfilled property tax obligations.

The provincial government has set an annual goal of distributing 500 patents for residential or agricultural lots. The application process requires several documents, including a duly accomplished application form, Tax Declaration, Deed of Sale, and other necessary certifications. Key partners in this program include the Land Registration Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Agrarian Reform, Geodetic Engineers Association, and Private Realtors Association of Ilocos Norte.
