Ilocos norte: The Ilocos Norte provincial government is migrating to a new digital communication system, which may cause intermittent signal disruptions at the Capitol this week. Information Technology head John Paul Calamaan confirmed the alpha testing phase on Tuesday as the old analog phone lines are replaced with a new digital system for call routing, messaging, remote access, and app integration.

According to Philippines News Agency, Calamaan stated, "Please bear with us as intermittent communication signal is being experienced at the Capitol building right now due to the ongoing migration from old to new system." This transition marks a significant step towards modernizing the province's communication infrastructure.

The upgrade follows the launch of the province's first data center in August 2025, a facility officials hope will boost digital infrastructure, secure data storage, and enhance e-governance for local agencies, schools, and businesses in the region. The new system aims to streamline operations and improve connectivity, reflecting the province's commitment to advancing its technological capabilities.
