Ilocos Police and Educators Praise President Marcos Jr.’s SONA for Commitment to Peace and Education

Ilocos norte: Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 (Ilocos Region) officer in charge, Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes, has commended the 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., praising the President's commitment to maintaining peace and order as a crucial element of national development.

According to Philippines News Agency, Reyes emphasized the dedication of PRO-1 to enhance police operations through intensified anti-criminality efforts, quicker response times, and increased community engagement. Despite the recent weather disturbances in the region, particularly in La Union and Pangasinan, the police force has remained committed to ensuring peace and order.

Reyes further noted the challenges posed by Typhoon Emong, including ongoing power outages in many areas, and reassured the public of the police force's commitment to their safety and security. He stated that PRO-1 would continue to respond swiftly to all calls for assistance, regardless of weather conditions or power availability.

In addition to law enforcement, education was another focal point of the President's address. Urdaneta City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Aguedo Fernandez expressed approval of the President's emphasis on education reforms. He highlighted the government's focus on education as a key priority for national progress and development.

Melanie Centino, a teacher from San Fabian town, expressed hope that the President would fulfill his promises to the education sector, including providing laptops for teachers, free Internet access, and compensation for teacher overload.

President Marcos reaffirmed in his SONA that education is a top priority of his administration, outlining ongoing reforms to address learning gaps, improve teacher welfare, and strengthen foundational learning. He assured proper procurement of laptops, digital tools, and connectivity support for teachers and students, along with compensation for teaching overloads and streamlined paperwork through digitalization. Additionally, he announced the addition of 60,000 teaching positions and the removal of unnecessary documentation requirements.
