Iloilo City Drug Busts Net P1.3-M Drugs, 2 HVIs

Iloilo city: The overnight anti-drug operations launched by the City Drug Enforcement Unit in this city's La Paz district led to the seizure of over PHP1.32 million worth of shabu and the arrest of two high-value individuals, according to a report from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the first operation was conducted in Barangay Nabitasan at about 9:20 p.m. Monday, leading to the seizure of approximately 140 grams of shabu worth PHP952,000 from alias Jolan, 30, single and unemployed.

The second drug sting was launched in Barangay Baldoza past 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Arrested was a 38-year-old tricycle driver identified as alias Charlie, who was in possession of approximately 55 grams of shabu with an estimated value of PHP374,000.

Both suspects are residents of Barangay Sinikway at Lapuz district.

ICPO director Col. Wilbert Parilla said the successful operations send a strong message that they will relentlessly pursue individuals involved in the illegal drug trade. "We will intensify our operations and ensure that drug personalities are held accountable before the law. ICPO remains resolute in protecting our communities from the harmful effects of illegal drugs," Parilla said in a statement.

The arrested suspects are currently under the custody of Iloilo City Police Station 2 for the filing of appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
