Iloilo City Government Plans to Extend Business Permit Renewal Deadline

Iloilo city: The local government is considering extending the deadline for business permit renewals from January 20 to January 31, 2026, without imposing penalties. Joy Gorzal, spokesperson for Mayor Raisa Tre±as, announced that the proposed extension has been submitted to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (city council) for the amendment of Tax Ordinance No. 2007-016, also known as the Local Revenue Code of Iloilo City.

According to Philippines News Agency, the current tax ordinance sets the deadline for renewal without penalties on January 20. The need for an extension arises from the shorter operation of offices due to government work suspensions on December 29, 2025, and January 2, 2026. Additionally, local business owners are busy preparing for the 2026 Dinagyang Festival, which has limited their time for processing permit renewals.

'We continue to encourage our business establishments to renew their business permits on or before January 31 to avoid interests and surcharges,' stated Gorzal. A 25 percent surcharge and two percent interest per annum will be imposed on those who fail to meet the deadline.

The government has made payment more accessible by opening offsite centers at the Atrium, Mary Mart Mall, SM City, and Festive Mall. Processing is also available at the Iloilo Business Center on Aduana Street and the Iloilo City Hall, which are open from Monday to Sunday.
