Iloilo: The provincial government here will fully implement Memorandum Circular 114 issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. announced that the provincial government will adopt conservation measures as directed by the President and integrate them with the province's existing initiatives.
According to Philippines News Agency, Gov. Defensor stated in a video message that the province convened the Community Civil Defense Cluster to ensure the full compliance with Memorandum Circular 114. He expressed support for President Marcos's initiative to fast-track the green energy program, highlighting Iloilo's ongoing efforts under the Government Energy Management Plan (GEMP).
Gov. Defensor mentioned that the executive order for a four-day compressed work week is being finalized, with some exceptions to be considered. Meanwhile, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias reminded department heads and employees of Memorandum Order No. 182, series of 2023, which details cost-saving measures.
These measures include limiting air-conditioning use, switching off unused electrical equipment, maximizing natural lighting, recycling office paper, and promoting the responsible use of government vehicles. Carpooling and careful review of official travel and training expenses are also encouraged.
The measures apply to all provincial government offices, including satellite offices and hospitals, as part of the province's commitment to conservation and sustainability.
