PCC Clears Tie-Up Focusing on RE Power Plants Development in S. Luzon

Manila: The Philippine Competition Commission: has cleared the partnership between Alternergy Holdings Corp. and ABC Energy, Inc. for the development of power plants in Southern Luzon that would produce 192 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy (RE).

According to Philippines News Agency, Alternergy announced that it has received PCC clearance for the joint venture, with Alternergy holding a 60 percent stake and ABC Energy the remaining 40 percent. The companies plan to complete the construction of the 128-MW Tanay Wind Power Project in Tanay, Rizal, and the 64-MW Alabat Wind Power Project in Quezon within this year.

The Tanay project is situated near the wind farm in Pililia, Rizal, while the Alabat Wind Project will be the country's first wind power facility along the coastline of the Pacific Ocean and the first of its kind in Quezon province.

Alternergy president Gerry Magbanua stated, 'The PCC clearance affirms the partnership between Alternergy and ABC Energy as aboveboard, transparent, and free of any unfair market manipulation or practices.' He added that the company is eager to continue the construction of the Tanay and Alabat Wind Power Projects toward commercial operation.

ABC Energy president Paul Juat emphasized that the PCC approval 'seals our partnership with Alternergy.' He expressed optimism about the partnership, noting it as their single largest investment to date and a significant step in accelerating ABC Group's green energy initiatives.
