Antique: Face-to-face classes in 18 municipalities of Antique are set to resume on Thursday. The local government units of San Jose de Buenavista and Belison announced the end of the suspension of in-person classes on Wednesday afternoon, as informed by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
According to Philippines News Agency, Local DRRM Officer III Michael Tolentino stated in an interview that classes had already resumed in 16 towns on Wednesday following the absence of any rainfall warning for the province from the weather bureau. He mentioned that the two remaining municipalities, Belison and San Jose de Buenavista, confirmed the lifting of the face-to-face class suspension for Thursday.
Tolentino added that they are awaiting the downgrading of the alert status of the emergency operations center at the Regional DRRM council from blue (on standby) to white, which would allow them to proceed similarly.
In a separate interview, San Jose de Buenavista Municipal DRRM Officer Alex Crespo explained that the suspension of face-to-face classes had remained in place because Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was still active over the province due to Tropical Depression Verbena as of 2 a.m. on Wednesday. The decision to lift the suspension was made as weather conditions improved, and schools are prepared for the return of learners.
