Inclement Weather Causes Major Disruptions to Domestic Flights in the Philippines

Manila: The inclement weather caused by Tropical Depression Isang disrupted nine flights on Friday, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.

According to Philippines News Agency, six flights operated by Cebu Pacific were canceled due to the adverse weather conditions. These flights included CEB506 and CEB508 from Manila to Tuguegarao and their return trips, CEB507 and CEB509, as well as CEB196 from Manila to Cauayan and its return trip, CEB197.

In addition to cancellations, CAAP also reported several flight diversions. PAL Express flights GAP2957 from Manila to Cotabato and GAP2963 from Manila to Busuanga were both diverted back to Manila. Similarly, the CebGo flight SRQ6068 from Mactan to Busuanga was diverted back to Mactan.

The disruptions affected a total of 1,019 passengers, highlighting the significant impact of Tropical Depression Isang on air travel in the region. As of 1 p.m., Isang was located in the vicinity of Maddela, Quirino province. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecasted that Isang, along with the southwest monsoon, would bring heavy rains and strong winds to several areas across Luzon.
