Inclement Weather Disrupts 10 Flights in Philippines

Manila: Ten flights have been affected so far by bad weather caused by the southwest monsoon (habagat), the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported on Tuesday. Seven domestic and international flights were canceled due to the adverse weather conditions.

According to Philippines News Agency, the affected flights include several operated by Cebu Pacific Air and Philippine Airlines. Cebu Pacific Air had to cancel flights 5J 744 and 5J 745 between Manila and Hanoi, 5J 747 from Hanoi to Manila, and 5J 901 and 5J 902 between Manila and Caticlan. Philippine Airlines canceled flights PR 593 and PR 594 between Manila and Hanoi.

In addition to the cancellations, three flights were diverted. A Cebu Pacific flight, CEB193 from Cauayan to Manila, was diverted to Clark. An Air Asia flight, APG608 from Bacolod to Manila, was redirected to Iloilo. A private flight, MEDIC5157 from Mactan to Manila, returned to Mactan.

CAAP has urged passengers to regularly check the status of their flights with their respective airlines as the southwest monsoon continues to affect most areas in the country. The weather bureau has forecast intense rains in regions including Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Laguna, and Quezon.
