ITCZ and Easterlies to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Philippines

Manila: The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the easterlies will bring rains over parts of the country on Wednesday, the weather bureau said. Scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the ITCZ will prevail across Mindanao and Palawan. The same weather conditions will be experienced across Eastern Samar due to the easterlies.

According to Philippines News Agency, moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. The easterlies will also cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country. The whole archipelago will continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. As of 2 a.m., the LPA was located 375 kilometers west southwest of Pagasa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan. The LPA is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said.
