Manila: The Japanese Embassy is sending a new batch of Filipino scholars under its Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme and Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) while also welcoming program returnees.

According to Philippines News Agency, the 2026 delegation comprises 104 Filipinos accepted into the JET Programme, consisting of 102 assistant language teachers and two coordinators for international relations, who will be assigned to various prefectures across Japan.

Japan Ambassador Endo Kazuya praised the participants and fellows for their achievements during a joint fellowship on Friday, marking 70 years of Philippines-Japan diplomatic relations. 'I look forward to seeing new synergies emerge from this exchange with the participants of the JET and JDS programs, who are expected to serve as a bridge between Japan and the Philippines for years to come,' Endo said.

During the program, participants and returnees shared testimonies of their time in Japan. Meanwhile, representatives from multiple Japanese organizations and companies participated in the event to build networks with the departing scholars and fellows.
