Iloilo city: This highly urbanized city is set to implement the KAbulig pangkabuhaYAn (KAYA) emergency employment program, targeting over 5,000 Ilonggos affected by the high cost of petroleum products. Mayor Raisa Tre±as announced that the city government has allocated PHP30 million, sourced from the regular fund and the Supplemental Budget No. 1 approved by the city council last week for the emergency employment initiative.
According to Philippines News Agency, the mayor stated that beneficiaries will be tasked to work in their barangays or select offices of the city government, depending on their needs. They may also be assigned to perform clerical work, secretarial support, encoding, cleaning, sorting, and other tasks identified by the barangay or office where they will be assigned.
Mayor Tre±as expressed that the program is expected to last for three months or until the funds are available. Joy Gorzal, spokesperson for the city mayor, mentioned that the beneficiaries will be identified by the Public Employment Service Office. The PESO will soon announce the details of the program.
