Butuan: The Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster sa Pilipinas' (KBP) chapter in Butuan City has strongly condemned the killing of Gerry Campos, a broadcaster-turned-municipal councilor, in Marihatag, Surigao del Sur. The group has urged authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, emphasizing the necessity for justice to be served "swiftly and without compromise."

According to Philippines News Agency, Campos was stabbed to death on Saturday morning while walking near a gasoline station in Barangay Sta. Cruz. The police apprehended his 42-year-old attacker in a pursuit operation on the same day.

The KBP-Butuan City Chapter expressed deep sadness and outrage over the incident, stating that Gerry's untimely death is a significant loss not only to his family and friends but also to the media community and the public he served. Campos had previously served as a director of Radio Mindanao Network in Butuan City and was the manager of Radyo Serbato in the same city before winning a Sangguniang Bayan (SB) seat in this year's midterm elections.

Radyo Serbato, Campos' former radio station, paid tribute to him in a Facebook post, highlighting his leadership, service, and kindness. They expressed their deep mourning over his passing and pledged to honor his memory.
