NIBONG TEBAL, The commitment of the Unity Government to develop the Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park (KIGIP) can open up economic opportunities in various sectors and industries to the Sungai Bakap residents, said a candidate in the Sungai Bakap state by-election. Pakatan Harapan candidate Dr Joohari Ariffin said the project could also help resolve the ongoing water supply issues in the Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) area, particularly in Sungai Bakap. He said the KIGIP development will bring significant benefits, including numerous job opportunities to the area. He said this to Bernama when met during the Minda MADANI town hall with over 50 residents here today. Earlier today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated in Dewan Rakyat that the project to distribute raw water from Sungai Perak to the Bukit Merah Dam will help meet the water supply needs in the SPS area and KIGIP and resolve water supply issues in Kerian, Larut Matang and Selama in Perak. The by-election is a straight fight betw een Joohari and Perikatan Nasional candidate Abidin Ismail.
