KUALA PERLIS, Passengers taking the ferry to Langkawi from Kuala Kedah, Alor Setar in Kedah were forced to board the ferry to the tourist island from Kuala Perlis jetty this afternoon. Shafinaz Ibrahim, 38, along with her husband and children were supposed to board the ferry from Kuala Kedah at 12.30 pm this afternoon but it was cancelled leaving the family with no choice but to move to Kuala Perlis to board the ferry at 4pm today. "I am grateful to be able to return to Langkawi after being in the village in Kedah via Kuala Perlis Jetty... fortunately the ticket in Kuala Kedah can be refunded and we re-purchased the ticket to board the ferry here," she said when met by Bernama in Kuala Perlis jetty today. Sharing the same opinion, Lim Yi Mei, 30, said she had to transfer to Kuala Perlis Jetty from Kuala Kedah to return to Langkawi as the ferry service at Kuala Perlis Jetty still operating as usual. "My ticket in Kuala Kedah was supposed to be at 2 pm this afternoon but it has been cancelled. I have no ot her choice but to go to Kuala Perlis Jetty as I have to go home in Langkawi, I managed to get tickets for the ferry at 4 pm from Kuala Perlis Jetty," she said. Meanwhile, Langkawi Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd general manager Captain Dr Baharin Baharom said the ferry schedule from Kuala Perlis to Langkawi today is running as usual with the last trip at 4 pm. "At Kuala Perlis Jetty, the ferry is running as usual at 9.30 am, 9.35 am, 10.30 am, 12 noon, 1.30 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and ends at 4 pm," he said. Baharin said the trip to Langkawi from Kuala Perlis at 4 pm which involved only one ferry today was full with 651 passengers. Earlier, Bernama reported that eight trips of ferry on the Langkawi-Kuala Kedah-Langkawi route had to be cancelled due to the high waves today. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
