Manila: Senate President Pro Tempore and Blue Ribbon Committee chair Panfilo Lacson on Wednesday criticized the so-called 'minority report' on alleged flood control anomalies, asserting that it disrespects Senate rules and undermines the committee's authority. Lacson emphasized that only a committee report approved by the majority is officially acknowledged and can be discussed in plenary sessions. He suggested that minority members should present their concerns as amendments during the main report's deliberation on the Senate floor.

According to Philippines News Agency, Lacson expressed his disapproval by stating, "Respect begets respect. How will I, as Chairman of the Blue Ribbon Committee, treat with respect a document that symbolizes disrespect toward the Blue Ribbon Committee and the entire Senate?" He further highlighted that evidence from the hearings has been instrumental in cases that are currently pending in court.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, on the other hand, remarked that the committee's investigation complements ongoing probes by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Office of the Ombudsman. Hontiveros, during a Kapihan sa Senado interview, stated that the Blue Ribbon Committee is beneficial, as legislative inquiries can occur alongside prosecutorial and judicial processes. She affirmed that the committee's findings and recommendations would provide valuable insights to the executive in addressing systemic issues and guiding necessary reforms.
