Manila: Shaina Nitura powered Adamson University to a 25-18, 15-25, 25-16, 25-22 victory over College of Saint Benilde (CSB) in the Shakey's Super League (SSL) Unity Cup quarterfinal rubber match Friday night at the Paco Arena. The second-seeded Lady Falcons will face twice-to-beat University of Santo Tomas in the semifinal on Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
According to Philippines News Agency, Nitura, who skipped Tuesday's match to rest a minor injury, delivered 16 points, 11 digs, and 10 excellent receptions for Adamson, which is back in the Final Four after placing fourth in 2023. Frances Mordi contributed 18 points while Abegail Segui and Princess Dote scored nine points each as the National Invitationals Cebu leg champion Lady Falcons avenged their previous loss in Game 1.
"I'm really happy we did it together. I'm really happy right now and hopefully we'll make it to the finals," Mordi said. "We felt really bad after we lost (in Game 1). However, after receiving some motivation and advice from our captain, Shai Nitura, it really helped us a lot to come back," she added.
Zam Nolasco scored 14 points while Rhea Densing had 11 for CSB, which fell in the classification round. Meanwhile, Far Eastern University and University of the Philippines were still playing as of press time. The winner will advance against three-time champion National University, which also enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage for topping Pool F.
