Laguna to Inaugurate First Provincial Eye Center in July

Laguna: The Laguna provincial government has announced the opening of its first eye center at the Jose P. Rizal Memorial District Hospital this July, focusing on cataracts and other vision problems among low-income patients.

According to Philippines News Agency, provincial information officer Danilo Lucas stated that registration for individuals with vision issues will commence on June 1 at the hospital. This initiative aims to accommodate those with limited access to specialized eye care.

Lucas emphasized that the provincial government recognizes the impact of untreated eye-related illnesses, particularly cataracts, which can lead to worsening vision and blindness due to financial constraints. The eye center will provide screening, treatment, and surgery for common conditions, including cataracts, which are a leading cause of preventable blindness.

The center is designed to benefit senior citizens and vulnerable groups who face challenges in accessing healthcare services. Lucas highlighted that this initiative by Governor Sol Aragones is a notable advancement in the province's healthcare system, enhancing Laguna's capacity to address longstanding medical needs, especially in the area of eye health services.
