Marawi city: Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO) Director, Col. Caezar Cabuhat, on Thursday commended the police augmentation force for its role in maintaining law and order during the Sept. 14 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE).

According to Philippines News Agency, Col. Cabuhat acknowledged the significant contributions of the police support units during a send-off and recognition ceremony held at the convention center in Marawi City. He emphasized their presence and commitment as key factors in achieving peaceful elections in the province.

A total of 1,145 personnel were deployed from various units, including the Police Regional Office (PRO) - Zamboanga Peninsula, PRO - Northern Mindanao, Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group, Highway Patrol Group, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14, and the Explosive and Ordnance Unit. These forces were essential in supporting election security operations across Lanao del Sur.

Col. Cabuhat expressed his gratitude for the dedication and sacrifice shown by these units, which he recognized as vital to the orderly conduct of the first parliamentary polls in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. He noted the significance of their contributions to the successful and peaceful conduct of the 2026 BPE.

The elections in Lanao del Sur were unprecedentedly peaceful and orderly, with no reports of gun-related incidents before, during, or after the elections. Historically, the region's elections have been plagued by violence, including gun-related attacks and ballot tampering.
