Legazpi: The Diocese of Legazpi announced the passing of its fifth bishop, Most Reverend Nestor Cari±o, on Saturday morning. He was 87 years old.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Catholic prelate passed away at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City. The cause of death has not been disclosed. In a social media post, the diocese expressed its condolences and invited the clergy, religious, and lay faithful of the Diocese to pray for the eternal repose of his soul.

The message included a prayer for Bishop Nestor, asking for eternal rest and perpetual light upon him. The diocese stated that details regarding the wake and funeral rites will be shared in due course. Bishop Cari±o will be laid to rest at Saint Gregory the Great Cathedral in Legazpi City, Albay.
