Localized Thunderstorms Expected to Bring Rain Showers to Luzon

Manila: Localized thunderstorms will bring isolated rain showers to parts of the country, particularly Luzon, on Wednesday, the weather bureau said. In its 5 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) indicated that generally fair weather will prevail over the Visayas and Mindanao, although isolated afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms are possible.

According to Philippines News Agency, PAGASA reported that a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), situated 1,175 kilometers west-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, has contributed to the weakening of the southwest monsoon or habagat. Meanwhile, former tropical cyclone Josie, internationally known as Haishen, has weakened into an LPA and is currently located 1,670 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon, outside PAR.

Weather specialist Chenel Dominguez mentioned that neither of these low pressure areas is directly influencing the country's weather. The entire archipelago is expected to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
