Davao del Norte: The Department of Agriculture-Davao (DA-11) distributed PHP5.9 million worth of agricultural inputs to farmers in Kapalong, Davao del Norte, aiming to support those impacted by the trough of the tropical low-pressure area and shear line last year.
According to Philippines News Agency, DA-11 regional technical director for operations, Marie Ann Constantino, stated that the aid was sourced from the agency's quick response fund (QRF). The assistance package comprised PHP4.5 million worth of inorganic fertilizers, PHP1.2 million worth of hybrid yellow corn seeds, and PHP210,750 worth of lowland vegetables.
The inputs were received by the Kapalong town government and the Provincial Agriculturist Office, which subsequently distributed them to the beneficiaries. Constantino assured that DA will maintain close collaboration with local government units to provide timely assistance for the rehabilitation and recovery of farmers affected by calamities.
The DA utilizes the QRF as a contingency fund for disasters occurring throughout the year, primarily to deliver assistance, relief, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and other services to regions impacted by such events.
