Manila: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced the extension of the piso fare cashback promotion on the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) until August 31. This initiative is in collaboration with the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) and the Social Security System (SSS).
According to Philippines News Agency, Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez expressed gratitude to RCBC, SSS, and Finance Secretary Frederick Go for their agreement to prolong the promotion beyond its initial July 31 deadline. The extension aims to provide financial relief to commuters by allowing them to allocate their savings to other essential expenses such as school allowances, food, or medicine.
The promotion is available to commuters who utilize their MySSS Card or RCBC debit and credit cards at the cashless fare gates of LRT-2. The fare is significantly reduced to PHP1 per ride, enabling passengers to save up to PHP17 per trip, depending on their travel destination.
Moreover, passengers can avail of the piso fare offer up to eight times daily, maximizing the benefits of this cost-saving initiative.
