Malaca±ang: In a recent statement, Malaca±ang highlighted an apparent contradiction in Vice President Sara Z. Duterte's recent comments about President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Despite Duterte's admission that she has no personal conflict with Marcos, her previous statements and accusations against the President suggest otherwise.
According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro pointed out that Duterte herself confirmed that Marcos has never mistreated her. "Nagpapatunay ito, galing mismo sa kanya, na ang Pangulo ay hindi nagkaroon ng masamang pagtrato sa kanya bilang tao at bilang (This confirms, coming from her own words, that the President never treated her poorly either as a person or as the) Vice President," Castro remarked in a video message.
Castro further noted that despite Duterte's frequent travels and criticisms of the administration, President Marcos has refrained from publicly attacking her, raising questions about why Duterte has made her grievances appear personal. This contradiction is particularly notable given Duterte's previous assassination threats against the President and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
In her statement, Castro accused Duterte's camp of fostering instability while claiming chaos in the nation. She emphasized that while freedom of expression is a right for every Filipino, it should not be misused to perpetuate falsehoods or misrepresent facts.
'Pinapalabas nya na wala raw kakayahang mamuno at ang bansa ay in chaos. Sa totoo lang, sino ba ang gumagawa ng kaguluhan? Sino ba 'yung nagbabalak ng destabilization? Hindi ba ang grupo nila? She cited the administration's housing and flood mitigation projects, particularly in Davao City, as evidence of its accomplishments.
